Snowflakes for Food Drive 2009                                 (Blanketing Vernon with Food - Flake by Flake )

Each year as part of the Home4dHolidays festival a Snowflake Charity drive will be held. The drive will be under the auspices of the VernonsOwn Foundation, but the intent is for it to be in concert with and co-sponsored with, other organizations, businesses, residents, and groups. The drive will be focused on a chosen theme.

The unified charity (theme) for this year is “Snowflakes for Food”. It will be raising money and or providing food for the numerous food pantries in our township. They all are hurting which means so are our residents. Nothing is more fitting for a "home for the holidays" program than trying to help everyone be able to "have" let alone enjoy a good meal. In addition to the pantries it would also apply to providing of a holiday meal for those unfortunate enough to not be able to make or get one themselves. Funds raised can also be further enhanced by using a wholesale food outlet which our local restaurants have access to. Doing this will provide considerable savings allowing more to be purchased with the available funds.

The "SNOWFLAKE" theme to help raise funds will encompass several venues. Snowflake decals/stickers  will be sold for a $1. Members of Kiwanis clubs (K-Kids, Builders Club) will be selling these in their schools.

Likewise a "Snowflake" H4DH shirt will be sold in the schools by members of Kiwanis clubs (Key Club). On the backside is a large snowflake logo. It will have the H4DH website shown, Vernon NJ, the theme for this years drive “Snowflakes for Food”, and list this year’s primary sponsors. On the front will be a small matching logo with “Home 4 D Holidays 2009” above it and “Vernon, NJ” below it.

There is an additional promotion of these items. It is structured in phases to allow people/businesses to participate/donate in a way they feel comfortable with in these difficult financial times. One can purchase the 1$ snowflake stickers or the $12 snowflake T-Shirts at participating local sponsors business or from any of the organizations participating in this years drive. Profits from sales will be split 90/10 with 90% of it going directly to purchase food items.
